    This is a collection of phone books from the southern Utah area. The collection inlcudes phone books from the major publishers, including Mountain Bell, US West, Dex, and more. The date range of the collection includes phone books from almost every year between 1971 to 2019.

  • Scope and Contents

    This is a collection of phone books from the southern Utah area, inlcuding area codes 801 (Utah), 602 (Arizona), and 702 (Nevada). A list of some of the cities included in the phone books are St. George, Beaver, Cedar City, Enterprise, Hurricane, Kanab, Mesquite, and more. The content dates of the phone books include every year between 1971 and 2019 except for 1972, 1977, 1988, 1990, 2004-2010, and 2012. The phone book publishers in the collection include Mountain Bell, Sun Mountain Directories, US West, Kiwi Publishing (The Local Book), Phone Directories Company Inc. (Utah's Dixie), US West Dex, Qwest Dex, Dex, Ziplocal (The Dixie Book), The Phone Book, The Local Pages, and St. George Yellowbook. The collection is useful for looking up the names of local businesses and residents. Several phone books also include maps of the cities they were published in and advertisments for local businesses that give insight into the time period.
